Our long serving members
will know that A.C.T has a holiday caravan at Dawlish Warren in beautiful
sunny Devon by the sea. However, these notes are primarily to
advise new members of its existence. The caravan
is available for all A.C.T members to hire at very advantageous
rates. The caravan is situated only 3
minutes from the nearest doctor’s
surgery possibly no other practice has seen so many
children with trachy’s.
The beach is only 10 minutes walk from the caravan. The caravan has a radiator in each room except the WC; the lounge has a coal effect fire. The caravan is connected to mains services for electricity, water & sewage etc. It is fully equipped with all the usual accessories, pots, pans, crockery cutlery, a fridge/freezer a full size cooker and a microwave plus a Colour TV with, Video & DVD and Stereo Sound System, and all included in your booking fee. There are 3 bedrooms, which
sleep 6 people and there is a fold-away bed in the lounge. Please
confirm with ME when booking if there is more
than 6 in your party; a list will be provided of the bedding and towels
etc that you should take with you when you book. Bedding not supplied
by ACT may be hired from the site if you don’t want to take your
own bedding. A ramp has been installed for those with wheelchairs and
pushchairs but I must stress that the door openings are not wide enough
for a full sized wheelchair. There are occasions when I have late cancellations, so I am happy to keep peoples details on my back up list. I sometimes get left with some vacancies for late April and early May also September and the beginning of October, not a good time for school age children, but I can assure you Devon can be particularly pleasant for a break in the early spring. Mary Pearson FOR BOOKINGS PLEASE TELELPHONE CARAVAN HOLIDAY BOOKINGS DETAILS FOR 2009 Next seasons Caravan bookings can be made from 5th January 2009. Please remember that all school holiday weeks are reserved for children who have an existing tracheostomy. Regretfully I am forced to change the way in which deposit payments are to be made. In the future, your booking contract will be sent out immediately, the holding deposits together with the signed contract must now be returned within 14 days. I will telephone you to make absolutely sure you have received your contract and that none have gone astray in the post. If I do not receive your deposit and contract within the stated 14 day period, that week can then be offered to another family. It has become necessary to do this, because some members do not send deposits back, I end up having to telephone them only to be told that they don’t want to go anymore. This is INCONSIDERATE, at the very least they should have had the decency to let me know in time to offer that week to another family. Those of you who have visited the Caravan before will notice that from the 2008 season the cable Film Channel will no longer be available. However you will have access to the normal Channels 1 to 5 plus Sky News, Sky sport and Film 4. There is a selection of Video’s in the cupboard and I suggest you take two or three DVD’s with you. If there is anyone out there who might have some unwanted children’s DVD’s to donate to the caravan, I would be very grateful. GOOD
